BIC supports Cercle Coffee Cup Reusable Programme

BIC Services has embarked on a transformative journey, joining forces with One Farrer for a 12-month trial. Under the Cercle Coffee Cup Reusable Programme by One Farrer, the shared goal is to tackle the waste generated from single-use coffee cups.

In a world grappling with escalating environmental challenges, particularly material that can be recycled and reused, this partnership represents innovation and a commitment to change.

To reduce environmental pollution, this Australian programme seeks to ensure that single-use coffee cups are no longer seen as disposable material, but rather as recyclable and ready to use again. Through a systematic approach, these cups are collected, cleaned and then reintegrated back into the market. This fosters a culture of a circular economy — instead of becoming waste, each cup is collected and recycled, paving the way for a greener, more resilient future.

Two cafés, located between two office tower complexes, are participating in the 12-month trial. Café patrons are given Cercle stainless steel cups, at no additional cost. Customers are encouraged to deposit their used cups into designated Cercle collection bins, distributed throughout the office towers. BIC Services collects the used cups and cleans them using commercial, water-efficient dishwashers, powered entirely by renewable green energy. The cleaned cups are returned to the cafés, ready for reuse the following day.

Impact in numbers:

- 300 reusable cups are saved from waste each day

- 50 400 cups diverted from landfill to date

- 100 000 cups diverted from landfill each year

- 2,763 kg of CO2e saved annually
