SANBS transforms into a fully digitised blood donation system

Bidvest Mobility, a leader in mobile computing, has launched the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) into a new era.

The company deployed more than 1 200 cutting-edge mobile devices and tablets from Zebra Technologies, which change the way the SANBS manages registrations and donor records, enhancing efficiency and accuracy at the blood service’s mobile field clinics and branches nationwide. Before the digitisation project, the SANBS encountered efficiency challenges as well as hurdles in engaging the youth in blood donation with outdated processes and recruitment methods failing to resonate with the younger demographic.

The digitisation drive will span 67 permanent blood donation sites and 96 mobile sites nationally, with Bidvest Mobility's field technicians working diligently to ensure a seamless transition into the SANBS's critical operations.  The dedicated Bidvest Mobility team, consisting of 23 field technicians and supported by five regional service centres, will play a crucial role in ensuring that the digital devices are seamlessly integrated into the SANBS operations.

Over the next three years, Bidvest Mobility will provide comprehensive support to users, guaranteeing the project's success and long-term sustainability, with a helpdesk offering an extra layer of support, ready to address any issues that may arise in the field.
